What really makes me laugh with the MLB message boards is the fact that fans of other teams regularly come to the Cardinals boards act like a bunch of dorks. Today one from the Giants came there and began saying the Cards will be last, the Giants have a dynasty. Umm, so you won two of the three, big deal. We’re in the playoffs year in year out and have won two in recent years. Then they made the dumbest remark saying the Giants have won more World Series. Umm, no they haven’t. They’ve won seven and all were when they were located in New York. They won their first in San Francisco in 2010. What was even funnier was the one from Atlanta, still crying over the infield fly rule play. That dude just did not get it, at all. The thing was , though, was they were disturbing us Cardinals fans of celebrating a 10-0 whooping of the Reds. Even some Reds fans were congratulating us.
What was great about the game was the starting pitching. You can’t do much better than what Jake Westbrook did today. He threw a five-hit shutout on one hundred and eleven pitches. The balls they did hit were smashed harmlessly into the ground. He did have one inning where the Reds had men on second and third with one out but he struck jay Bruce out. The best thing was it gave the bullpen a rest and with a day off tomorrow and even better break. A day after finally shedding the long homerless streak, the Redbirds revved up and swatted four. John Jay led off the fifth with a home run, his second of the year. After Matty Carp singles, Matt Holiday doubled him in. Carlos Beltran followed with a two-run bomb into the Cardinals bullpen. In the sixth, David Freese singled and Matt “The Whammer” Adams hit his second of the year to give the Cards a 6-0 lead. later in the inning, Matty Carp smoked a home run. They would add two more runs for a 10-0 lead.
The resilience this team showed was amazing. It also showed the Reds that “Hey, we’re going to try and beat you every single day and that this division is not your!” They proved that today. I have no complaints on the game. None at all. Everything was played to perfection. Next up is the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday. Shelby Miller vs Kyle Loshe. Welcome back Loshe, I’m sure you’re going to get quite the ovation!
