Games like today’s make me want to vomit. Seriously. When your starting pitcher goes seven shutout innings, the bullpen should lock it down. Well that didn’t happen today. Jaime Garcia, who should be 3-0 instead of 1-0, pitched without his best stuff. Having Molina behind the plate helps and they negated any potential threat. Rosenthal got a ball up and Ryan Braun hit a two run homer in the eighth. The Brewers got to Boggs and threatened to take the lead in the bottom of the ninth but Mujica spoiled that. Salas gave up a homerun in the tenth and the Cards couldn’t rebound. Though Matt Adams hit his third homer of the year, the Cards were able to muster only two more hits after the fourth. What hurt was Allen Craig getting thrown out at the plate on a double Molina, which showed Craig beat the tag. The Cards got screwed on that one. They also had a man on third with only one out and couldn’t get him home. Those hurt just as bad as the bullpen blowing it. With the bullpen now in a state a flux, it’s apparent something needs to happen or someone needs to step up. The Cards are a game up on the Pirates and lo and behold look where the Cards are going to play.
Not sure on pitching match up. Lance Lynn starts for the Cards. Update later.
