St. Louis Cardinals Game 66

It was a game that was billed as a pitchers duel with Adam Wainwright going against Matt Harvey. And after a threat of rain the game didn’t fail to deliver. Adam Wainwright went seven strong, shutout innings and striking out six. The Cards scored only one run off Harvery, an rbi triple by Matt Carpenter. The Cards added an insurance run in the eighth which was big. Trevor Rosenthal pitched a scoreless eighth. Chief Mujica came in and after getting the first out, served up a long homerun to Marlon Byrd. John Buck doubled but Mujica got the next two to record his 19th save. Wainwright became the first 10 game winner as the Cards moved up to 20 games over .500 again. They also gained a game on Cincy and Pittsburgh.

I can’t really complain too much about this game. Matt Harvey was a beast and every bit advertised. Good pitching will always stop good hitting. The caught stealing by Matty Carp was almost a big issue. Can’t be doing much of that. Next up is the Miami Marlins and the return of Jake Westbrook.
