St. Louis Cardinals Game 74

This was a disappointing loss to swallow. I wasn’t too keen on Tyler Lyons making the start and he proved me right. Lyons didn’t make it to through the second inning, after the Cards had given him a three run lead. The Rangers scored four but the Cards tied it at for in the second. After several scoreless innings, the Rangers scored two off of Trevor Rosenthal in the ninth. The Cards mounted an effort in the bottom of the ninth, nut Carlos Beltran was robbed of extra bases. Tyler Lyons was optioned off to Memphis after the game. Joe Kelly who pitched five scoreless innings was given the spot in the rotation vacated by Lyons.

This was a game the Cardinals should not have lost. The blame is partially on Lyons who gave up a three run lead. Other faults are the Cards hitting which has stalled recently. Kelly was fantastic and deserves the spot in the rotation.

Next up is Shelby Miller going against the Rangers.
