St. Louis Cardinals Game 51

The Cardinals started off this game pretty much the same way they did the previous game; a Matt Carpenter single followed by a homerun by the next hitter. Where it was Yadi on Monday, on Tuesday it was Carlos Beltran. Staked by a two run, Tyler Lyons was phenomenal. Though he gave up an rbi double to Billy Butler, he set down the next 17 in a row. It was broke up only by a Billy Butler single. Lyons picked up his second win by going seven strong innings. Matty Carp and Matt Holliday added solo shots in the fifth to give the Cards a 3 run cushion. Trevor Rosenthal pitched a scoreless eighth and Chief Mujica pitched a scoreless ninth for his sixteenth save.

Right now the Cardinals have the best record in baseball highlighted by some great starting pitching. The situational hitting has been great as have the fielding. There are still a few things that need working on and that is the bullpen though they have been better as of late and their overall hitting. They have games where they’re a bit listless. Hopefully the young rotation holds up, there have been several injuries there recently. Oh and for those wanting the Cards to get a better shortstop, leave Kozma be. He’s better than what everyone expected.

Next up is Kansas City again as the series shifts to St. Louis. Lance Lynn goes after win number 8 as he hooks up against Luis Mendoza.
